The Boston Phoenix's annual "Best of Boston" poll is going on right now and we've been nominated in the category of "Best Dance Troupe, Sexy". So Much Going On...
It's hard to know where to start. We were up in Vermont at the end of January performing for the good folks at Johnson State College. This was our second year up there, and the welcome was very warm (standing room only!) but the weather was just a little chilly (-3° on Saturday morning. That's brrrrrrlesque!).

February is insanely busy, as you can tell from looking at the calendar on the right. We have our first-ever student recital, The Mardi Gras Ball, a new class, a new weekly show in Andover, and the month closes out with the return of V FOR VIXEN. Crazy. So, here we go...

Shows, shows, shows...

LAFF YOUR PANTS OFF is our comedy-burlesque showcase at ImprovBoston(40 Prospect St., Cambridge MA). It's the second Wednesday of every month (so the next one is Feb. 10). To be honest, ImprovBoston has been doing a really crappy job of getting the word out about it, so we're counting on you all to help spread the news. To kick things off, we'll be drinking and snacking around the corner before the show at The Enormous Room (569 Mass Ave), and we'd love to have you join us. Applause is nice, but we love the chance to hang out with our fans.

LAFF YOUR PANTS OFF features two of the newer Boston Babydolls doing their first burlesque solos: the dark and stormy Lola La Boomboom gets her every desire granted, and the elegant Amelie St. Chimay performs a rarely seen piece of burlesque ballet.

At the end of the month we revisit two of our favorite events! Zehara Nachash's Evening of Sideshow (formerly "The Odditorium") is an amazing collection of talents, all under one roof.  It's at the Cambridge YMCA Theatre, and since that's where we performed the first Out for Blood show all those years ago, we've got a soft spot for it.

You can bring February to a close with a bang as we once again transform OBERON into The Boston Babydoll Ballroom, when we perform V FOR VIXEN 2.0 – The 18.27% New Stuff Show.  If you caught this incredle wintertime, wartime, swingtime show in December, you know how good it is.  If you missed it, here's your last chance to see it.  Really.  We've heard there are folks traveling in from New York and even California to see this show, so get your tickets in advance.

The next NGR literary salon is Into The Seraglio: An Evening of Eastern Erotica on Valentine's Day, Sunday, February 14 at 4 p.m., 6:30 p.m. and 9 p.m. This event is much more intimate than the one we did at Oberon; we're only selling 32 tickets to each reading, and the location is revealed only to ticket holders. We can tell you this: The Cave of Wonders is located within 10 minutes of Harvard, Central, and Kenmore Squares, and that there's plenty of parking. It's also a delight for all the senses: guests recline on luxurious rugs and pillows while sampling rare delicacies from the Orient. Can you think of a more delightful way to spend Valentine's Day? We can't...

What's Up, B.A.B.E.?

B.A.B.E., if you haven't heard, is The Boston Babydolls training branch, "The Boston Academy of Burlesque Education", located at 119 Braintree St. in Allston. We offer all sorts of classes for the aspiring and experienced burlesque dancer, as well as a wide-variety of other dance, movement, and theater classes.

This month we've got two exciting B.A.B.E. events: a new class, and our first ever student recital! If you've take a class with us and would like to strut your stuff on stage, please get in touch A.S.A.P.! The recital will be at Oberon on Tuesday, Feb. 16th, at 8 p.m. and we'd love to have you on stage or in the audience, cheering your fellow students!

Looking to try burlesque or to refresh some of those basic moves? Try our new class, BURLESQUE FOR BEGINNERS on Sunday, Feb. 21 from 4pm to 6pm.  This class covers (or should we say 'uncovers'?) the three pillars of burlesque – the bump, the grind, and the shimmy – as well as striptease essentials and the secrets of tassel twirling.  Registration is only $40 and is limited to 10 students.
